Our Reviews Speak for Themselves!

“A great book for discussion groups in methods classes!”

“An invaluable tool for new teacher”

“Clear reproducibles for teachers to use”

“Great resource”

Review from Judges of 2005 Benjamin Franklin Awards, Publishers Marketing Association

I think that You’ve Got The Job—Now Keep It! is extremely helpful to the beginning teacher; it is the buddy that every beginning teacher needs.  It provides a great deal of information that is overlooked in courses at college.  This is the nuts and bolts of teaching.  Master teachers have learned how to organize all of the tasks that s/he has based on experience, and this gives a beginning teacher an edge by assisting with organizational strategies.  I have recommended this book to my graduate students at Barry University who are beginning teachers and they have been very appreciative.  It's a great book and a must for every teacher's bookshelf.

As a senior in college I found the tips in You've Got the Job--Now Keep It! to be really helpful and creative.  It will be a major resource for my student teaching in the fall and when I'm teaching in the real world!

This book is user friendly and very straight forward, more so than any of the other first year teacher books on the market.  I especially like how it often offers several alternative strategies to the same situation. As a college senior, I’m going to be more prepared than most new teachers by having this book as a guide.

I will be starting my student teaching in the spring, and am looking forward to taking You've Got The Job—Now  Keep It! along with me.   I am excited to try out some of the strategies and tips the book offers as well as comparing what's in the book to what the classroom teacher is doing.  I feel more confident going into my field experience having read You’ve Got The Job—Now Keep It!, and I know that this book is going help me be better prepared for what actually goes on in the classroom!

Organization is the key for a successful first year. This book is organized to help a first year teacher reach that goal! It is user friendly with extra tips for teachers to be on top of things and keep the job they were hired to do!

Many of my students ask me where they can find more info about "how to get started."  This book offers the reader a very real and practical look at the profession.  From the teacher stories to the practical tips and handouts….a new teacher’s mind could be put at ease knowing they have all the tools they need right at their fingertips.

At first I was unsure of how to teach poetry to my Kindergarten class. The great lessons in Creative Writers...Imagine That! have so clearly mapped it out for me that now I look forward to teaching poetry!

Put  You’ve Got The Job—Now Keep It! on the top of your summer reading list and you'll be ready to start the school year. The ideas don't just apply to the first year teacher right out of college, but to the "first year teacher" re-entering the classroom after raising her children, or the "first year teacher" who has switched from one tenure area to another.  It takes a common sense approach to communication between school and home. There are many comprehensive strategies which can be applied to your own classroom immediately.  You’ve Got The Job—Now Keep It!  is now on my list of "Top Ten Professional Books" for my graduate students’ personal libraries.

As a teacher of six years, I am always exploring new and innovative ideas on staying organized, effective classroom procedures, and ideas on how to juggle the many responsibilities of a teacher in the 21st century.  The book You've Got the Job-Now Keep It! has it all!  It helped to affirm effective classroom procedures I have developed, but even more, it has new and MUST KNOW tips for ALL TEACHERS!  This book IS NOT JUST for new teachers!  It has become my new handbook or teaching BIBLE! Kudos to the authors!

The organizational tools in this book are essential for first year teachers and veterans alike.   I wish I had thought through the organization of my classroom this thoroughly when I first started!

I only wish that I had the benefit of You’ve Got The Job—Now Keep It!  when I was starting out as a new teacher. I could really relate to the behavior management section. In the 30 years that I've taught, I've always been considered a strong disciplinarian—“strong but fair” (my students like to say)…I loved your tips, and you are right on target about current parent/teacher support, as well as using reward systems in the classroom.

The easy to follow lesson plans in Creative Writers...Imagine That! are sure to capture the attention of young writers.  By using children's literature to introduce the elements of writing, the authors have found a way to spark the imagination and get the creative juices flowing for teachers and their students!  A must read for all teachers.
